Seoul, Beyond the Landmarks

Experiences Worth Making Time For

Beyond the landmarks, Korea holds a handful of experiences that reward those willing to slow down. A private guide to what is genuinely worth your time.

Temple stay

A night among monks in a centuries old temple. Early mornings, simple meals, quiet reflection. Unlike anything else on a typical itinerary, and one of the most requested experiences among our travelers.

Jjimjilbang, the Korean spa

Closer to a wellness complex than a spa in the Western sense. A full circuit of saunas, communal soaking, and quiet corners to rest, arranged with privacy and comfort in mind.

Bukchon Hanok Village

Traditional Korean houses, cafes tucked into restored hanok, and some of the most photographed streets in Seoul. Best experienced early, before the crowds arrive.

The Han River, by picnic or bicycle

The river that runs through the city, lined with parks on both banks. An easy, unhurried afternoon, particularly at sunset.

N Seoul Tower

A short walk or cable car ride to the city's best view, by day or by night. Sunset is, without exception, the better choice.

Buddha's Birthday Lantern Festival

Held each May, when the city's temples are lit end to end with paper lanterns. Bongeunsa and Jogyesa are the two to prioritize in Seoul.

Bukhansan National Park

Granite peaks reachable directly from a subway station, a rare thing for a capital city. For travelers who want a hike woven into an otherwise city bound trip.

Cheonggyecheon Stream

A restored stream running through the center of the city, ideal for an evening walk.
